but I really think that it's part of the issue, isn't it?

It's a really good point! There's not only a problem of fans/fandoms hearing about OTW doings and feeling left out — there's also the problem of just not enough penetration for a lot of fans/fandoms to hear about OTW doings in the first place.

I know the folks who work on the AO3 do try to keep users up to date with news posts — but to my knowledge there isn't, for example, much effort to reach out — outside of the archvie — to let different fandoms know when features relevant to their interests are released or developed. Even within OTW spaces, AO3 news doesn't always get a wide release. Some big news items, like subscriptions, do get exposure in a lot of OTW spaces, but a lot of other AO3 items don't. But even that issue is not so simple, as the AO3 and the OTW are not synonymous; the OTW has other projects and aims and resources to offer. And it's a lot of communication — AD&T is an incredibly productive committee! — and communication, in turn, is a lot of work. But it's not only AO3 news that's not broadcast — in the end I'm not sure what to do. For example — seek out sources for news on underrepresented fandoms, to stay up to date and include in our link roundups? It does seem that even our sources of news have a particular focus. There's a lot to think about =\

Anyway, sorry for my rambling! I definitely look forward to hearing more of your thoughts! =)
